last weekend

we had the greatest first weekend back in vegas. as meghan put it, i can't stop moving now that i am back. i just want to go-go-go and do-do-do all that i can! it's true. i am so excited to be home but mostly, i'm lonely with justin so i don't want to be home all by myself.

next week's forecast is predicting 100+ degree weather so i wanted to visit the gilcrease animal sanctuary before it got too hot. landon and i first went last year and landon loved the animals but we went when it was too hot and at nap time. this time we went first thing in the morning and landon loves animals now. plus he was so excited to be with friends again. amy & haddie, lindsay & kate, meghan & taylor and landon & myself. they had mixed things up a bit and there seemed to be wayyy more birds. and a lot of them were incredibly sad and wounded. but so incredibly loud. landon clung to me and did not want to let go. he loves loves loves chickens but he just did not to be close to them. he particularly was not a fan of the peacocks. the larger animals were a lot more fun - they had ostriches, donkeys, mini horses, emus, and birds of all shapes and sizes. it was so much fun but probably won't go back for another year.

after a quick nap, we met my brother for my peanut's last baseball game. he's literally a few feet taller then all the other kids but has always been a bit physically awkward but has recently excelled in baseball, specifically pitching. rome was so sweet to play with landon and they especially loved playing with his trains in the dirt. after that we met meghan & taylor at my MILs for swimming. he really does not love it when i make him do things, like make him move his arms or kick his legs. the water was pretty cold but the weather was hot so it was super nice once you got past the initial shock. landon was so jealous when taylor got in his 'boat' [baby tube] but once i put him in it, he freaked out because he just loved to cling on me. we had a great time swimming though- taylor loves the water!

after another quick nap we headed to my mom's for some ice cream with my aunt suzie who was passing through town and landon once again got to follow peanut & rome around, pretending to be a big boy. he loves big kids so much. and especially playing in the dirt, which they did in abundance.

sunday we went back to our ward for the first time and loved reconnecting with old friends. our new time is right at his nap time so he took a quick power nap before then one after, which proved disastrous. he was cranky for church then cranky after his afternoon nap. thankfully a trip to grandma shell's for the chickens and dinner. such a great weekend. poor daddy was stuck at work all weekend [and by all, i mean well into the wee-hours of the night]. he's the only thing that could have made it better.
