i applied to grad school
quite the nerve-wracking experience, but im excited. when i graduated last year i wasn't sure what i wanted to do- job, school, internships, move- honestly though, i was mostly worried about justin. so now that i've got him, i knew i needed to take another step. maybe a month ago, the hubs & i were talking and i was telling him how frustrated & saddened i was that some of our friends were selling themselves short, either with their job or from not pursuing more education or whatnot (no names- dont wry, you don't know them). well, my insightful significant other remarked "are you sure its not you who is frustrated from selling yourself short?" burn. but a very true burn. all i've ever wanted to do was coach lacrosse, i haven't really had any other professional goal other than that.
so for the next week i looked up graduate programs in las vegas that i could do. i once thought i'd want to go to physical therapy school, but alas, $30,000 plus 4 years of work plus holding off on having a family was not my cup of tea, not to mention i have never been that interested in that side of exercise science. then to what-do-i-wondering-eyes-should appear, but a licensure + masters program @ unlv. its the same program my bestie kayla is doing but i just never thought about it. honestly, because ive been traumatized, much like you all have been, from pe teachers. i hated pe in ms/hs, but i do love teaching, learning, & pe (the subject) so it made sense. well, as of today, i applied to the graduate program @ unlv (aka, a poor man's suu). it'll prob take me 2 years but i'm excited- it will be well worth the loans, time, and tears. the biggest upside was it's made for working professionals, so i can still work ft (that way we won't have to completely drain my mother's pantry- your welcome). so in tribute to my new found career advancement, i dedicate this post to the pe teachers in all of us.
