a day in the life: part two

right before i had porter, i wrote a post about my daily life with only one child. it's weird to look back at that time and realize just how different/the same it was. i am down to the wire for baby #3 so i wanted to document what our life is like with only two kids. you know, for posterity.

5:30am
landon wakes up way too early- as usual- and requests milk and a show. he watches who knows how many episodes of paw patrol/mighty machines/rescue bots while i either sleep on the couch or start my facebook stalking for the day.

6:30am
porter wakes up and needs food ASAP. this kid wakes up famished! he loves dry cereal- his first phase of breakfast for the day. usually followed by yogurt, fruit and pancakes/hot cereal. this will tide him over until 10am, which is when landon normally wants to eat.

7:30am
i make breakfast, do dishes, and creep online. we usually wake up daddy at this point by jumping on him and snuggling him. then we read books or play in their room until it's time to get ready for the day.

9am
we are out of the house. we typically go to the gym 3x a week or preschool on the days we're not at the gym [1-2x a week]. grocery shopping takes one day, usually a doctors appointment happens, or just going to the park or museum. we stay out of the house until lunchtime.

1pm-3pm
naptime! my favorite time of the day! i have been so fortunate this pregnancy to have both boys nap at the same time. six months ago when porter was still taking two a day, i would squeeze in scripture study time while landon fell asleep first. then after porter was asleep, i got an hour's rest. now that they are both on one a day, i usually can get 1-1.5 hours of sleep. hallelujah! this was a huge blessing when justin was gone in carson for six months.

4pm
homework time. after a fruit snack reward, landon would play outside with dillion, our old neighbor, while i tried to get some chores done around the house. then make dinner.

5:30pm
dinner time! if we're lucky, daddy is home but that happens very rarely. more often then not, he has nighttime meetings so we're solo. the boys watch a show while i clean up the dishes.

7:30pm
milk and bath time. porter doesn't love sharing his bath with landon but he doesn't get much of a choice. he lasts maybe 10 minutes if i'm lucky- landon will stay in longer. then i'll jammy both my boys up, read both scriptures and books [one book per boy] and put porter down first. if i'm alone, i watch a show/go online/do my nails while the boys whine that they're not tired. if justin is home, i'll take a bath while he gets to enjoy the whining.

9pm
once the boys are asleep and i'm fresh and so clean-clean, justin and i will get time alone to talk or watch an episode of our shows.

11pm
lights out!

i am in a weird mixture of joy and fear, thinking about how different things will be with three kids. i've already noticed my free time has been cut in half- which is a good thing. but i often go to bed feeling unaccomplished for the day which isn't fun. but that stuff isn't important and can wait. my babies? they can't.

Yes, your babies cannot wait. I'm super excited to meet Old McDonald Marshmallows, and I know a little boy who is going to be super disappointed if that's not his name. You are too old to go to bed at 11. Go to bed earlier! Embrace the old! ;)
