toddler update: 18 months & legal!

monthage: 18 months [a year & a half]

poundage: according to the old ladies at the family history center, he is a solid piece of iron. according to the scale, he weighs 26 lbs

teethage: 12 with 4 poking their heads out. i think he'll be finished teething by age 2

what he eats [his favorite things]: broccoli [he is so my child], cereals [fav is oh's and bran flakes- what a freak], turkey lunch meat [esp the sample they give at the deli counter], applesauce [he asks for it morning/noon/night], crackers [graham esp but he'll also take fishies or cheeze-nips. not saltines... so really his maternity is up in the air], cookies [he's had many 10 cookies his whole life so i don't see why he asks for them incessantly but he does], hotdogs [or snaussigages as we call them in our house], cheese quesadillas/grilled cheese [or cheesewitches as we call them]. he's a pretty decent eater now- he rarely eats breakfast and goes through phases a lot where he's picky. but he'll normally eat pasta and rice pretty well, not much meat.

what landon does: *side note: i remember talking to my friend when i babysat her little toddler, landon being a baby. i was so worried- what do toddlers DO all day? i had no idea! now i get it. they do this* his favorite activities include reading books [or throwing them at me and running around the room while i read them], playing outside [he'd be out there all day looking at rocks or finding animals or pointing out cars], playing with his cars, throwing toilet paper in the toilet and flushing, washing his hands or playing in the sink, making a mess with his sensory boxes [not really playing with them, just throwing the rice places], hitting his hammer on things or putting a screw into his screwdriver right side up so it stays in there, hiding [usually under blankets or behind his closet], riding things that may or may not be vehicles, trying on shoes then walking around in them, and of course, watching tv [i have see car toons on netflix more then any one woman should. maybe i should buy him the real car's dvd but i'm too cheap. maybe for his birthday].

what landon loves: his bankie, oh how he loves those stupid bankies. luckily we have like 5 [they're just thin, small receiving blankets] and he's ok when i switch them out to wash. but he takes them all around the house, even trying to take them in his high chair. it's adorable but i know it's going to be a pain later in life. he loves his mama for sure- he follows me around everywhere usually wanting me to hold him up so he can see/grab something better then what's on floor level. he loves tv, esp the portable car tv when we set it up for him. he's a little kid lover [michael scott in training]. he loves to play with other kids but more like follow them around creeper style and stare at them and what they're doing. he will also do this with adults who are around said-child.he loves baths & milk. he loves climbing on chairs [then onto the table, then into his high chair. he gave me many a scares when i turn around and see him in his highchair, no idea how he got there]. he loves looking out the window but he ESP loves animals. esp dogs but he loves cats too. there's a duck statue in our neighbors yard and everyday when we go outside he runs out there, points and says 'quack quack!'. poor guy, we're going to have to get him a puppy for his birthday [poor mommy].

what landon hates: getting his diaper changed [every time he screams and kicks and throws a fit. every single time. that's at least 4x a day people!], putting clothes on [which usually occurs at a diaper change]. tubes [we went to mcdonald's this week and he was too scared to do anything because the whole thing was made up of tubes. so that tiny one in sacramento really was a challenge!]. he hates being held and snuggled, except when he wants to [early morning, watching a show or going down for bed]. he hates getting in his carseat [which he does at least 4x a day- can't wait til he's forward facing!]. he hates not being able to do things himself, like when we facetime and i have to hold the phone. he hates being left out [ok that's my kid], especially when we go into another door or close the door on him.

what he can say: he made a list here but here are some others: crackers, cookies, cars, kitty, quack, up, rocks, mama, dada, papa [which he calls my mom?? and also any other mystery man. i don't get it either]. he's also started to say cool which is hilarious. he's just talking so much - it's so much fun when he picks up a new word.

what we're working on: saying please and thank you. sharing and taking turns. not throwing fits and staying through all of sacrament [any ideas? i heard making the foyer not fun is a good way so i just take him outside, give him a light spanking then nose to the wall outside so he's begging to go back inside].

what we're looking forward to: sitting forward facing in the car, going back home to vegas and playing with his friends, the pool season, the popsicle season, potty training and of course, vegas vegas vegas.

weight loss wednesday: what are you drinking

so the one you've all been waiting for - the one where i chastise you for all the soda you're drinking. except i think we've gotten to the age where most people realize how bad soda is and try to limit how much they take in. i grew up in a household where cold cereals were a special treat you had once a week and soda was just as rare. in fact, i sold my soul once for a coke and two candy bars [actually, it was a $100 bill of my dad's i found in the backyard. but still, my family still makes fun of me for making such a poor deal but i still stand by it. at that time, which i think i was about 8, a COKE and TWO candy bars was the best deal in the whole world].

my father used to be a cokaholic [drinking at least 3+ cans a day] and i am a devoted coke-only slurpee fan but i've never been addicted to soda. i've been able to give it up for months/years and not be a big deal. now i drink soda rarely and when i do, it's because i'm sick or need a boost or it's a special treat. because drinks [even slurpees] are a special treat that i enjoy after a meal, not during. i prefer water while i eat. and i've always been lucky to have the best tasting water there is [sorry beaver, utah- my parent's well water beats yours hands down].

now in case you are ignorant about how bad soda actually is for you, take this for a gander
seeing that much sugar makes me sick. but doesn't really make me want to give up that cherry coke.... but consider this. coke can be used to remover rust, oil or grease stains. it used to actually contain cocaine [explains why it's so delicious and addictive]. i found this article particularly interesting on what soda does to your body the second you drink it.

okay so i've got you convinced, soda is the devil. now onto other drinks. for one i am not a fan of protein shakes. i hate their taste so that's primarily why i'm a hater but consider this. this is how much protein you need [depending upon your body weight]. protein, found in eggs, meats, dairy, legumes and nuts are essential for your body and you do need more if you're pregnant or weight training. but more often that not, you can get the protein you need from a balanced diet and multivitamins. therefore, when you chug giant protein shakes you're taking in all these extra calories and your body can only take so much protein. after your body has all it needs, it pees it out. making your pee ridiculously expensive. so shakes are good - in moderation but don't use it as a replacement.

now energy drinks, oh how i loathe thee. these are basically crammed with caffeine and sugar, so why even drink them? sports drinks are great, when you're playing sports. they are beneficial when you need to replace electrolytes that are lost during vigorous exercise. and that yogalates class was not it. therefore you're just drinking calories. moral of the story - just stick to water.

*one drink i WOULD recommend for a treat after a workout would be chocolate milk. it's got enough protein/sugar/carbs to replace what you lost post-workout, it's delicious and it's cheap. and supposedly the new craze in the gym circuit*

i know some people hate water so try adding some lemons/cucumbers/fruit to your water or try those zero calorie flavor boosters but be careful, most of them have fake sugars which are really worse then real sugars. just stick to water 9/10 and use that one time to treat yourself - with a slurpee or soda or drink of your choice. anything other then water is a special treat to be taken sparingly [like chocolate cake - even though i wish i could have chocolate cake everyday]. happy drinking!

how we play

being isolated from your friends and family really helps you become resourceful. gym time = free babysitting time, netflix = date night, you get the idea. landon has the attention of a teaspoon [much like ron's emotional range] so i'm always trying to think of fun new ways to keep him entertained, especially without the use of toys. the other night we had some friends over and they remarked how great & simple some of landon's 'toys' were and how nice it was i didn't freak out over messes. i figure, childhood is so short and there's nothing wrong with a little chaos every once in a while. here are some things i've come up with and hopefully it can give you ideas when you're stuck at home.

sensory boxes - landon loves his rice one the best because it makes the most mess but he plays better with oatmeal. as he gets older [aka, learns to not eat things] i'll make some out of rocks/dirt, slime/jello, or whatever fancies me at the moment. basically you just fill the box with different textures/shapes. for this i shop the dollar store for features, pipe cleaners, pom-poms. for easy clean up i now do it in a small plastic pool.

water table/sink/bucket - go outside and 'paint' the sidewalk, stand at the sink with different bowls/utensils. give them sponges or clothes. make some colorful ice cubes with things frozen inside.

play in the pantry - let them stack cans & boxes of food

play drums on your pots & pans

stack rock or put them in trucks

let them 'drive' your car - this is literally landon's favorite thing to do outside the house

read books in a new place - something as simple as reading in bed or on the grass outside makes it more interesting

go for a picnic outside

'paint' with yogurt in his highchair or make edible paint for the bathtub [here's one i found on pinterest]

tape tubes on your fridge & put things like pompoms or pipe cleaners down them

let them pull things out of boxes - landon's favorite is band aids [i even let him put some on his body - a box of 150 is $1] but he also loves to do this with diapers, playing cards or tissues.

play with blankets - wrap them up, hide under them, drag them for rides

invest in gymboree bubbles - no joke, the BEST bubbles ever. they don't pop!

actually get on the floor and roll around! roll, tumble, walk like a crab, just get physical! it's amazing how often we just sit like bumps on logs when they really want us to move like them.

let them destroy something, like a magazine or piece of paper. or just let them tear through your purse.

playing with magnets on the fridge or cookie tin- but beware, some children may be scared of the cookie tin and become stranded on top

i haven't let landon do this yet but i want to dye some spaghetti and let him play in a tub of it. i think it'd be hilarious.

this list is in no way comprehensive. a simple search on pinterest could find better lists but these are some of our favorite things to do to give you some fresh ideas. enjoy!

why i love my little boy

confession: i never really thought about being a mom to a little boy. i'm super girly and i love me some pink. okay a lot of pink. i just never thought i could be a mom of little boys. we already had four grandsons in the family and one granddaughter. i just always assumed i'd get a little girl. and now my bff8 is having another little girl - but i know my next one will be a little boy. i still love little girl clothes and routinly buy them for friends but i'm learning, boys are kind of awesome. granted, i know nothing of little girls so i'm just assuming based on stereotypes. i've just really had it on my mind how much i enjoy my little boy. for several reasons

michael scott: yes it is true. i, michael scott, am signing up with an online dating service. thousands of people have done it and i am going to do it. i need a username, and i have a great one. little kid lover. that way people will know exactly where my priorities are.

when he's tender - it's like a little glimpse of happiness. he's not a cuddly guy but sometimes when he's sleepy or just sweet for no good reason. it melts my heart. and i wouldn't appreciate his cuddles as much if he did it all the time. how he can get dirty and not even care - i abhore being dirty. i hate having my hands dirty at all. like at all- cooking, cleaning, being outside. gross. but landon has so qualms, just digs right into nastiness. today as he was making sand angels at the park and i was trying to touch him as little as possible, i realized how happy he was, no matter being dirty. that's a different kind of bliss. the toughness - landon i think is really unique in his ability to fall [repeatedly] and get hurt all the time but not really be that hurt. he is extremely clumsy but is unbelievably tough. that's nice not having to deal with crying and tears all the time. but he does cry- he hates it when he gets in trouble, more specifically when he gets yelled at. he doesn't like us being mad at him. the cool dude clothes - for the most part, boy clothes are the worst. like horrible. especially if you're extremely stingy and won't buy pants that cost more than $7 and only buy things on clearance [which we all know i wouldn't do if i had a girl]. but sometimes i find some awesome gems of skull & crossbones awesomeness that are totally rockin. and it makes me glad i have one cool dude to dress up. how he wants so badly to be like daddy - i love justin more then words and to see landon look up to him and try to emulate him, it's touching. he just follows him around and wants to do the big boy things. i love that i have two times the cuteness of boys around. cars, superheros & dinosaurs - baby dolls are a tad lame. adorable, but lame. they just lay there. cars make noises! superheroes have capes and dinosaurs rowr. boys are loud and rough but so much fun!

weightloss wednesday: me & my underroos

the post you've all been waiting for - the one where i talk about my underroos. but first-
i am really proud of how good i've been in carson city. going to the gym has become my routine and when i miss it, i really do miss it. i've been going to the gym at least 4 times a week [mon-thur]. i was going 5-6 but my gym cut back it's childcare hours so i can't go friday because landon has a gym class the same time as the hours [but i routinely skip it] and saturday the hours are completely gone- that's usually the day i miss it when i didn't go friday as well. so i'll try to run outside..... but that doesn't happen much.

sorry for the selfie guys but you needed
to see the bra. plus i've got some
fantastic abs i'm very proud of
i've been hitting at least a mile a day running- usually more. i try to run at least two miles and a half one day per week. i'll spent at least 40 minutes on the treadmill total- varying the incline. i've noticed when just an incline of 1 it's that much harder to run, so i incline on my short run days. then i spent one day on legs/abs then one on arms/abs. then do 20 more minutes of additional cardio [stairs/gazelle/bike]. the other two days i hit a class - strength & core then cycling circuit. it's taught by an instructor i like and works my bod. after i do a mile run then walk for a total of 40 minutes.
*the ACSM recommends 30 minutes of cardio a day just to keep your heart healthy. 60 for weight loss*

now for the good stuff - i have been having lots of butt sweat issues [and for those that received my butt sweat pictures, you know just how nasty/bad it was]. so i switched up what i was wearing underneath and it made ALL the difference. i still got sweat a lot but it's significantly less. i also invested in a fancy schamncy sports bra. basically to skip the personals i've just started wearing cotton undies that help my neither region breathe.

seeing as how i am a busty gal [the bustiest i've ever met - if you don't include an old friend's great-great grandma who was like, a size m] i would usually double bag with tight sports bras. it was nice too because then i had a built-in shelf for my iphone between the layers. but this sadly had run it's toll and i was ready for something for legit. i found the panache bra while reading this article and i'm glad i invested the $75. i don't feel the underwire and my boobs are breathe better but i do miss my built in music shelf. it's definitely more supportive but i've also come to the realization that there's just no way running will ever be comfortable for me. i have flat feet [my podiatrist said i'd never be able to run for long distances], gigantic boobs & i'm carrying 40lbs i shouldn't. it's just not in the cards - but i can do my best. and this bra helps me achieve my best.

and now for my personal rant for you larger chested girls, stop trying to squeeze into conventional sizes! i know it's just heartbreaking to never find cute bras at target that cost $15. go to a speciality bra store, invest in a correct fitting [aka european sizes] and invest in a cute, supportive bra [typically spend about $40-70]. your boobies will thank me. *i feel like oprah right now*

oh and i'm down a few pounds - go me!

roadtrip: sacramento 2.0 - the city that we slept in

*i wrote about our first trip to sacramento here. we also visited it this november as well*

i bet some of you are just sitting at home, lounging about in your snuggie watching reruns of 'saved by the bell' and thinking, 'wow- that mel really leads a wonderful life.' well people, it's true. i do.

justin's free weekends in carson are extremely limited so when my one friend [and i don't mean my 'one friend in many'. i mean my 'one singular friend in carson'] mentioned going to the zoo in sacramento i started looking into it. then she said shee was going this weekend and i thought that we should as well. thankfully justin lives for spontaneity and our one hoodlum kid has no choice so we set out for state capital! i had a $50 giftcard for travelocity due to my amazing skills as a survey taker in my free time so we made it an overnight trip. saturday morning bright eyed and bushy tailed we headed out of town. now there are three ways to get to sacramento from carson:

- the northern way through reno - adds about a couple minutes more
- the middle way right under tahoe - least amount of time
- the southern way way under tahoe - the longest route

so naturally we chose the second right? wrong. i really should have labeled them this way

- the northern way - two laned highway that adds more time but saves you stress & isn't windy
- the middle way - the windiest route that gets you stuck behind stupid slow trucks
-the southern way - really was never even an option
post throwup playing with his tongue like a silly willy. enjoying the bike racks that he can walk right under. enjoying the zoo and daddy time.
we had taken both the northern and middle way before but i was feeling nostalgic and wanted to take some pics of beautiful tahoe, see the sights so we went the long windy and horrible way. we let landon play 2 hours before we left in the morning [to get his wiggles out and hopefully get him tired]. he fell asleep for a good hour but then during the mountain/forest part he was awake and mad. so he screamed and screamed. then threw up. then threw up. ALL over his clothes and carseat. my former arch-nemesis/favorest sister used to get carsick on drives but i didn't remember it that much. well this would definitely stick in your mind - the SMELL was horrendous. and poor landon was freaking out. we hurried and pulled over [thankfully within a few minutes of a stop - because there are not a lot of stops in the mountains] and i pulled him out [getting me all nasty]. poor guy had a puddle in his carseat. once he was out he was fine but totally reaked. i cleaned up landon and justin tackled the carseat but it was no use. that thing STANK! no amount of febreeze, air fresheners and rolled windows could mask it. thankfully we had one more outfit for him [which didn't help because his body smelled]. this did not start off well.

once we got to sacramento we discovered that about half the population in sac thought it was a good idea to go to the zoo as well [seeing as how there was a high of 65]. we had to park literally a mile away [said in a rob lowe 'west wing' voice and no in a rob lowe 'parks & rec' voice]. once we got to the gate we had to wait 30 minutes just to pay. once inside, landon was not in his brightest and best of moods [and lets be honest, neither was justin]. we saw our friends for a bit and took off to see the animals.
the tiny tiny toilets and a giant me = no fun. loving the train and wishing he could ride a real one.
this was landon's second zoo adventure and while i had a blast, he still didn't quite get it. most animals he couldn't see but he really enjoyed the giraffes, lion but really the otter was his favorite [audience: the otter? me: yes. the otters. he's a narnia fan]. i think this was due to the fact that it was a glass container  that he could see into and stand next to. plus the otters were so energetic, running back and forth. he had so much fun chasing them from one side to another - and they often stopped next to the kids. if i had to ask landon, he would prob say his favorite was the train that went around the park but sadly he didn't ride it. his mean parents didn't want to wait in the hour line.
anyone who knows landon knows that him going into a tube is a BIG deal. you can't tell but he's ecstatic over seeing the ducks. having snacks with daddy.
across the street from the zoo is a place called fairytale town. this was def more landon's speed. it's about an acre's worth of playgroup fun. you walk in under humpty dumpty's wall, you slide down the old ladies shoe, climb into cinderella's pumpkin, you get the idea. there's also plenty of small animals to pet- billy goat's gruff, baba black sheep, etc. landon has fun but it was fairly crowded as well. we spent an hour here until landon got a little cranky. you could tell by the fact that he started refusing to share [the train wheel, the pirate wheel, waiting for turns on the slide].

thankfully he took a little nap on the way to our hotel. once we got checked in he was wide awake. we spent some time chilling then landon and i took a dip in the hot tub [oh so nice! i can't wait for the summertime!] then found some place on yelp [ps- i hate travelling to new citys and finding somewhere to eat that's non-chain. you can't really trust reviews]. it was an artsy fartsy place downtown that said it was good for kids [it wasn't really but thankfully landon behaved]. pretty upscale for us but delicious [and expensive]. after that we headed to gunther's where we had gotten ice cream last time. it was just as good as we remembered! and landon was a huge fan- he even shared with me [so generous].

the second day we had planned on visiting old town again and letting landon ride the train which runs along the river. fortunately we found out the night before it doesn't run til april so we thought of a back up plan. and fortunately for us again it was daylights savings weekend. landon never sleeps in past 6, he's usually up around 5:30 and this day was no different. so while other's groaned over their lack of one hour, it was wonderful for us because places opened earlier then usual! we had a nice breakfast [ok yelp, this one wasn't so bad. but it was no ihop either] then went back to fairytale land. i felt bad doing the same thing twice but it was way better this time around. no one was there early sunday morning so we had it all to ourselves. meaning he could go down the big kids slides with me or chase the ducks around the park. we had so much fun! and it wore landon out enough that on the drive home, he slept for an hour an a half! twas wonderful.

even better was coming home to a meal that wasn't cooked by me. we had previously been invited to dinner by a member in the ward but they had to cancel due to sickness but they still brought us food anyways. delicious! carson is really shaping up to be better then i thought [did i just say that???].

life lately: facetime & his friend sock hands

life lately has been finding slurpee shirts everywhere - but this was a few sizes too large. it was a few things i forgot while in vegas: hitting my fastest 1k like a champ, finding that peanut looks just like landon, and landon getting his head stuck between my parent's couch arms [in his defense, it is a large head].
life has been landon lounging about, watching his programs. it's landon having sleepovers at mema's and missing his mama terribly.... or so i'd like to believe.
it's been coming home to beautiful lillies and tulips [my fav] and a handsome handsome sailor in his work portrait [seriously, back off ladies. he's all mine]. it's landon joining the m-i-c-k-e-y-m-o-u-s-e club [oh the blackmail i'll have for years to come].
life has been landon calling this cut out of a firefighter 'papa' every single time we visit the museum. every time. papa is the only name he seems to know, not grandma or mema. and my dad looks nothing like that firefighter. it's discovering landon has a love of rice and so thankful he will eat something other then crackers and cereal. it's landon being a creeper and always asking to see the kitty, which is just his way of saying he wants to stare into our neigbor's yard.
it's been landon FINALLY learning to go down the stairs correctly [backwards] after learning it helps him go faster. it's been craving chocolate chocolate-chip pancakes from ihop and settling for a copycat version that fails in comparrison. it's been landon being a pretty princess in a hat similar to my sisters hat.
life has been many lonely nights alone so finding anything to keep him entertained, including paper towel rolls taped to a fridge. it's been landon being a creeper in the front yard, as well as the back, as he sits by the window for at least 30 min an afternoon saying 'dada? dada? dada?' to every car that passes by. it's been my sweet angel baby being photobombed by jesus and being a weirdo who wears his socks on his hands for hours at a time.
life has been a lot of facetiming with daddy while he's away, with our favorite cousins and grandma. it's been wearing daddy's shoes all around the house [with sock hands] and eating the pavement yet again and getting scraped up on his head. life lately has been wonderful - like always.

weightloss wednesdays: lyon's favorite word

remember when i said i'd explain the word 'mettle'? back in college one of my favorite and scariest professors had a favorite word - mettle. he tried to work it in in every conversation, quite annoying actually. he taught sports conditioning so mettle, or metal toughness, came up pretty often. i never understood what he was talking about until now.

i have a fragile mental state of mind when i exercise solo. when i run, i am thinking about my aching feet, my straining calves, my bouncing boobs [i just got a fancy new sports bra that is supposed to keep those babies in check, thank goodness. i'll keep you posted], the sweat slowly accumulating all over my body, or the beats coming from my headphones. seriously, i cannot seem to zone out, which is key to running. i can zone during lifting, i can zone during a class but not when i'm by myself. give me a ball and i can play a team sport but this solo stuff is tough.

lynn jennings said that 'mental will is a muscle that needs exercise, like the muscles of the body'. here are some suggestions that help you [and more importantly me, because i am writing this more for my benefit]

1- have a goal that you can achieve and work towards it. for me, running a 5k is a good enough goal. at other times, it's running 2 miles at a time or reaching a certain tree in the distance. maybe it's trying something that you hate/haven't done before. achieve something that seems out of reach.

2- break up your goal into segments. i measure my runs by how many songs it takes to reach a mile, usually 4. i try to not look at my phone/treadmill screen until it's been 4 songs.

3- push then take a break. i don't run 3 miles every week. usually the most i do is 2 then 3 on occasion.  [but i go about 5-6 days a week]. i take off days where i walk on a steep incline then run a half of a mile. other times i run a half a mile at a time. your body and your mind need a break from extreme stress.

4- focus on something externally. usually on the treadmill i'll find a spot on the back wall and just stare. it's when i start looking at everything around me or on the tv that i start feeling the need to stop. it's a rare occasion that i start thinking a thought and forget i'm running. but the goal is to start doing that more often then not. but check in every once in a while internally- listen to the sound your feet make, notice your patterned breathing, the swing of your arms, or even mentally visualize the muscles you're using.

5- visualize the end goal - how happy you'll be come 3pm knowing that you exercised that day, how great it will feel to fit in those pre-baby jeans, being able to run farther and faster then you've previously done.

today as i drove home i saw some high school track boys running along the road and noticed they did it sans-music. how in the world do they do that? mettle. i remember in lacrosse when we'd have to run maybe less then half a mile and i thought i'd die without music. maybe one day i'll be tough enough to run without music. but that day is not today. or tomorrow.

so what's your fitness goal for the week? for me, it's running 2 miles straight again. it's been a while since i've pushed myself so i'm ready to achieve something.
*that and stop eating those dang sweets! still haven't achieved that yet

that one time the irelanders came to carson

last week the irelanders came into town for the governor's series basketball game. seeing as how justin and steven are legit rebel fans [just ask the message boards], they were so excited. plus they have a bromance unlike any other so three weeks of not seeing each other was terribly hard on them. i swear they slow motion ran into each others arms.... not really, but kind of.

they got into town butt late thursday night [technically friday morning] so we didn't see them until late friday morning. we all lounged about while justin headed off to work. the irelanders took a trip up to tahoe and took a ride up the mountain. landon and i pooped around the house then hit up the children's museum. we met up with them at justin's work for a fancy tour of the capital- including a VIP tour of the lieutenant governor's office. it was legit. afterwards the babes took a nizzap then we hit up our favorite last session's favorite mexican spot.

saturday the boys headed up to carson for the annual donkey/elephant game [the dem's won] then we met them for lunch at the waldorf tavern [with landon holed up with the babysitter at home] and went to the unlv/unr game. taylor was a champ and did so well. we had nosebleed seats but it was so much fun - only my second game which is funny considering how big of a fan justin is. afterwards i bid farewell to my sailor for 3 days. meghan and i enjoyed a girls night with domino's pizza and chocolate crunch cakes [seriously, the yummiest things in the whole world], all while enjoying a viewing of the hunger games.

our weekend was seriously so low key but so nice having friends again! i am a social butterfly whose wings have been clipped here. so thankful for great friends who would brave an 8 hour trip just for us. plus taylor was a doll. landon just  loved on her - he's starting to get the concept of babies. so he was always climbing on her, climbing on her toys [even tried to ride her like a horse when she was having tummy time] or kissing her. he esp loved kissing her. he got that from me. oh and the car seat was a big hit. his favorite new toy.
